Gut Bacterial Metabolite Urolithin A Decreases Actin Polymerization and Migration in Cancer Cells
ConclusionUA leads to disruption of Rac1 and Pak1 activity with subsequent actin depolymerization and migration. Thus, use of dietary UA in cancer prevention or as adjuvant therapy is promising.

Immunohistochemistry for mismatch repair proteins MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2 is an effective screen to detect individuals at risk for Lynch syndrome. College of American Pathologists guidelines stipulate that protein expression should be reported as present versus absent, as most patients with germline mutations in a mismatch repair gene have complete loss of protein expression in tumor cells. A similar approach is employed to screen for cancer patients eligible for immune checkpoint blockade. This “all or none” interpretive approach ignores substantial evidence that mismatch repair may be more finely regulated...

Immunostaining for p53 is widely but variably used when diagnosing endometrial carcinoma (EC). Mutant-pattern p53 staining can support a diagnosis of serous carcinoma, and also serve as a surrogate test for identifying the “serous-like” subset of aggressive EC identified by The Cancer Genome Atlas characterized by high numbers of somatic copy number abnormalities. We, retrospectively, assessed WHO histotype, usage of p53 immunostaining, and p53 status in a consecutive series of biopsies showing EC from a single hospital. Of 79 ECs, 59 (75%) were low-grade EC (LGEC), 13 (16%) high-grade EC (HGEC), and 7 (9%) wer...

The present study suggests that Hu ‐17 inhibits estrogen biosynthesis by decreasing aromatase expression and destabilizing aromatase protein to inhibit cell proliferation and induce cell apoptosis in KGN cells, and it warrants further investigation as potential treatment for estrogen‐dependent cancers. AbstractEstrogen ‐dependent cancers (breast, endometrial, and ovarian) are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in women worldwide. Aromatase is the main enzyme that catalyzes the biosynthesis of estrogen, which drives proliferation, and antiestrogens can inhibit the growth of these estrogen‐depen dent...

Unlike other human cancers, in which all primary tumors arise de novo, ovarian epithelial cancers are primarily imported from either endometrial or fallopian tube epithelium. The prevailing paradigm in the genesis of high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC), the most common ovarian cancer, posits development in fallopian tubes through stepwise tumor progression. In recent years, progress has been made not only in gathering terabytes of omics data but also in detailing the histologic-molecular correlations required to look into and make sense of the tissue origin of HGSC.

What is predictive value of preoperative CA 125 level on survival rate of type-1 endometrial cancer?
CONCLUSION: Our data shows that picking a lower threshold value for CA 125 level (16 IU/L) instead of 35 IU/L, could be more useful in type-1 endometrial carcinoma patients with negative prognostic factors.

Abstract
Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is the most common gynecologic malignancy in the United States, with limited effective targeted therapies. Endometrial tumors exhibit frequent alterations in protein kinases, yet only a small fraction of the kinome has been therapeutically explored. To identify kinase therapeutic avenues for EC, we profiled the kinome of endometrial tumors and normal endometrial tissues using Multiplexed Inhibitor Beads and Mass Spectrometry (MIB-MS). Our proteomics analysis identified a network of kinases overexpressed in tumors, including Serine/Arginine-Rich Splicing Factor Kinase 1 (SR...
