Authors: Sengul Samanci N, Poturoglu S, Samanci C, Ustabasioglu FE, Koldas M, Duman AE, Ormeci AC Abstract Background: We evaluated ocular hemodynamic changes, malondialdehyde(MDA) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in patients with IBD.Methods: We used ocular color Doppler ultrasonography to analyze 56 eyes with Crohn's disease (CD), 62 eyes with ulcerative colitis (UC), 68 eyes of healthy volunteers. We measured peak systolic velocity (PSV),end-diastolic velocity (EDV),and the resistivity index (RI) of ophthalmic artery (OA) and central retinal artery (CRA). MDA and VEGF levels were measured in ...

Conclusion: Positive ASCA IgA and IgG, and negative pANCA were associated with higher odds for CD-related surgery in univariate analysis. Since disease phenotype changes during the disease course, while serological antibodies are stable, our results support the use of pANCA, ASCA IgA and ASCA IgG as prognostic markers in CD. This article discusses the role of imaging in evaluation of IBD transitioning from pediatric to adult patients. Imaging modalities and techniques used for evaluating IBD are reviewed. Characteristic acute and chronic imaging findings of IBD are discussed with emphasis on what radiologists need to clearly understand.

ConclusionIn Crohn's disease, intestinal diversion may be considered in patient and disease specific scenarios and in ulcerative colitis, the use of a 3-stage approach to an ileal pouch is now more often used.

CONCLUSION: International Literature is very scant about the treatment of patients affected by hemorrhoids in particular situations. A word of caution and concern even about the indication for minor outpatient procedures must be expressed in these patients, in order to avoid possible lifethreatening complications. The first line treatment is the conservative medical approach associated with the treatment of the primary disease. PMID: 32250231 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), are chronic relapsing conditions resulting from immune system activity in a genetically predisposed individual. IBD is based on progressive damage to the inflamed gut tissue. As its pathogenesis remains unknown, recent accumulating data have demonstrated that IBD are complex and multi-factorial disorders correlated with host luminal factors which lead to imbalance between pro- and antiinflammatory signaling. The growing understanding of the molecular mechanisms responsible for IBD has suggested a wide range of po...

AbstractThe effect of TNF-blockers on T-lymphocyte subsets is largely unknown in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). The aim of the present study was to analyze the prevalence of T-cell subtypes and their correlation to therapeutic response. Sixty-eight patients with Crohn ’s disease (CD), 46 with ulcerative colitis (UC) were enrolled. (1) The clinical course was followed after the initiation of TNF-blockers (prospective study). (2) The immunophenotype was also compared between long-term anti-TNF treated-responders and non-responders (cross-sectional study). The res ults were compared with those of therapy-naïve...
