Influence of graphene nanoplatelets on curing kinetics and rheological properties of a benzoxazine resin

Publication date: September 2020Source: Materials Today Communications, Volume 24Author(s): V. García-Martínez, M. R.Gude, S. Calvo, M.R. Martínez-Miranda, A. UreñaAbstractThe effect of two types of graphene nanoplatelets on the curing kinetics, gelation and vitrification behaviour of a benzoxazine resin was investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry and rheological experiments. The results showed that the incorporation of graphene nanoplatelets did not change the autocatalytic nature of curing reaction. However, when benzoxazine was doped with the nanofiller supplied by XG-Sciences an acceleration effect in curing reaction was observed, especially when a 2 wt.% was added. This catalytic effect was demonstrated by the reduction of peak temperature, apparent activation energy and the shorter gelation and vitrification times. Finally, the curing kinetic equation for benzoxazine and its nanocomposites was obtained by linear model-fitting of non-isothermal experiments and it matched reasonably well with the experimental results from both non-isothermal and isothermal tests.

This article will review the epidemiology of heart failure in ESRD, the pathophysiological derangements of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system in patients with kidney disease, and the results from case series and trials of the use of MRAs in ESRD with HFrEF. Although limited to several small trials using MRAs in peritoneal and hemodialysis patients with or without HFrEF, the current literature appears to show the potential for clinical benefits with little risk.

Authors: Mégevand P, Seeck M Abstract Introduction: Electric source imaging (ESI) refers to the estimation of the cerebral sources of electric signals recorded at the head surface using electroencephalography (EEG). Thanks to the availability of EEG systems with high numbers of electrodes and to progress in software to analyze the signals they collect, ESI can be applied to epilepsy-related pathological EEG signals like interictal spikes and seizures.Areas covered: In this narrative review, we discuss selected original research articles on the use of ESI in epilepsy patients considered for surgery. Epilepsy-...

The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between abnormalities of retinal microcirculation and cardiac damage defined as left ventricular hypertrophy and/or diastolic dysfunction.Materials and methods: The study comprised 88 patients with essential hypertension. This study evaluated the frequency in which a hip dislocation is first diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) scan. A retrospective review was conducted of orthopaedic trauma patients presenting with hip dislocation to a Level 1 trauma center over three years. We recorded whether the patient first received pelvic radiograph (PXR) or CT scan of the pelvis, if the patient underwent closed reduction of the hip prior to CT scan, and if repeat pelvis CT scan was done. Of 83 hip dislocations, 64 patients were sent to CT scanner dislocated; 19 patients first had PXR and underwent closed reduction of the hip prior to CT scan. By ob...
