Use of oral antidiabetic drugs in Japanese working-age patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: dosing pattern for metformin initiators.

Conclusions: A unique pattern of prescription was observed amongst Japanese patients with T2DM, and DPP4i, rather than metformin, was predominantly used as the first-line treatment. SGLT2i was infrequently prescribed. Metformin was prescribed at a daily dose of ≤500 mg in many patients. Greater efforts are needed to assess the comparative effectiveness of these treatment strategies. PMID: 32050809 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
