ConclusionTuberculous mastitis is extremely rare variant of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. However, it should be kept in the mind of physicians and pathologists while approaching a breast mass, especially in endemic area.

Authors: Zhang L, Li Z, Zhang J, Wu Y, Zhu Y, Tong Z Abstract The purpose of the present study was to analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of de novo metastatic breast cancer (DnMBC). Information regarding 1,890 patients treated for advanced breast cancer at the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital between January 2008 to December 2017 was collected. Clinicopathological characteristics, treatments and outcomes of these patients were compared using the chi-square test, log-rank test, and Cox regression analysis. A total of 171 patients were diagnosed with DnMBC. The m...

Authors: Noguchi T, Sakai K, Iwahashi N, Matsuda K, Matsukawa H, Yahata T, Toujima S, Nishio K, Ino K Abstract Cancer Personalized Profiling by deep Sequencing (CAPP-Seq) is a novel ultrasensitive next-generation sequencing-based approach that is used to detect circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). The aim of the present study was to compare the gene mutation profiles and blood tumor mutation burden (bTMB) measured between pre- and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), utilizing CAPP-seq for plasma ctDNA in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. The current study included 10 patients (6 NAC-sensitive and 4 NAC-resistant) c...

Authors: Nakazawa Y, Nakazawa S, Kurozumi S, Ogino M, Koibuchi Y, Odawara H, Oyama T, Horiguchi J, Fujii T, Shirabe K Abstract Biomarkers that can accurately predict treatment response are required for indicating optimal neoadjuvant treatments. The current study assessed the predictive value of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) mRNA expression for the response to neoadjuvant nab-paclitaxel (nab-PTX) therapy in patients with breast cancer. It was hypothesized that SPARC expression can affect the response to albumin-bound taxanes, including nab-PTX since SPARC binds albumin with a high affinity. Pr...

Authors: Jimenez JJ, Chale RS, Abad AC, Schally AV Abstract Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) is characterized by a block in differentiation where leukemic cells are halted at the promyelocyte stage. A characteristic balanced chromosomal translocation between chromosomes 15 and 17 t (15;17) (q24; q21) is seen in 95% of cases - the translocation results in the formation of the PML-RARA fusion protein. The introduction of retinoic acid (RA) and arsenic trioxide (ATO) has been responsible for initially remarkable cure rates. However, relapsed APL, particularly in the high-risk subset of patients, remains an important...

Conclusions: AZD8186 has single agent efficacy in PTEN-deficient TNBC cell lines in vitro, but has limited single agent efficacy in vivo. However, AZD8186 has enhanced efficacy when combined with paclitaxel and anti-PD1 in vivo. Further study is needed to determine optimal combination therapies for PTEN-deficient solid tumors. Authors: Petrella TM, Fletcher GG, Knight G, McWhirter E, Rajagopal S, Song X, Baetz TD Abstract Background: Previous versions of the guideline from the Program in Evidence-Based Care (pebc) at Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) recommended that the use of high-dose interferon alfa 2b therapy be discussed and offered to patients with resected cutaneous melanoma with a high risk of recurrence. Subsequently, several clinical trials in patients with resected or metastatic melanoma found that immune checkpoint inhibitors and targeted therapies have a benefit greater than that with interferon. It was therefore conside...

Conclusions: Our method of measuring concordance was feasible on a population-based level, but future studies to validate it and to develop more sophisticated methods to measure concordance in larger cohorts and various disease sites are necessary. Measurement of clinical pathway concordance on a population-based level has the potential to be a useful tool for assessing system performance. PMID: 32218665 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: Although in the present analysis, we found no statistically significant improvements in os or rfs for capecitabine compared with gemox or gemcitabine, capecitabine can-until further prospective trials are completed-be considered the standard of care in the adjuvant setting based on a single randomized phase iii study. Conclusions: Most cases of pcc continue to be diagnosed at a late stage, with poor short-term and long-term prognoses. After adjustment for patient age, sex, and year of diagnosis, the survival for stage i tumours and for surgical modalities increased over time. Further research is needed to identify the reasons for improvement in survival during the study period. PMID: 32218662 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: Practice size and proportion of patients treated varied between oncologists, but those differences did not translate into significantly different survival outcomes for patients. PMID: 32218658 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
