Relationship between the site of thrombosis and the prevalence of pulmonary embolism in acute lower extremity deep venous thrombosis

ConclusionsPatients with proximal bilateral LEDVT had a higher likelihood for development of PE than did patients with distal LEDVT, which may be associated with inadequate therapy for proximal bilateral LEDVT. PE was more likely to develop with right-sided LEDVT because these patients had more comorbidities in our study.
