Post-kyphoplasty cement embolism migrating to the peritoneum through the right ventricle
A 58-year-old woman was admitted to the Emergency Department for dyspnea, non-productive cough and acute left shoulder pain, radiating to the left lower anterior chest, and occurring two days after a kyphoplasty of the first and third lumbar vertebrae for osteoporotic fractures. Physical examination revealed no sign of respiratory distress or cyanosis, normal cardiopulmonary auscultation and normal heart rate and blood pressure. ECG disclosed a sinus rhythm with right bundle branch block and related non-specific repolarization changes.
