CONCLUSIONS: Data on the epidemiology of essential tremor are still limited. Estimates of the prevalence of essential tremor vary widely across countries, which makes it difficult to accurately establish its prevalence. Even so, its prevalence increases with age; that is, it is a disease linked to aging. In subjects older than 60 years, essential tremor prevalence would be between 2.3-14.3% (median: 6.3%). However, further studies are needed in this regard, mainly studies of incidence and mortality.
