Naturopathic Doctor

So in digging around the Spravato website and seeing whose getting on their directory in different places in the country, I made the mistake of looking up Portland, OR and saw a bunch of naturopathic doctors on the list. That in itself is concerning, a ND is prescribing Esketamine Spray, for depression patients. But it doesn't stop there, I looked up one website: "...We work with a variety of conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, psychosis, schizophrenia, OCD... Across the landscape of mental health research and diagnosis, there is a diverse range of questionnaires and interviews available for use by clinicians and researchers to determine patient treatment plans or investigate internal and external etiologies. Although individually, these tools have each been assessed for their validity and reliability, there is little research examining the consistency between them in terms of what symptoms they assess, and how they assess those symptoms. Here, we provide an analysis of 126 different questionnaires and interviews commonly used to diagnose and screen for 10 different disorder typ...

ConclusionsOur results indicate the prevalence of multiple comorbidities varies across the lifespan in DS, and in adults, rates for psychiatric comorbidities show different patterns for males and females relative to expected population rates. Further, most health comorbidities are not associated with poorer cognitive outcomes in DS, apart from autism and epilepsy. It is essential for clinicians to consider such differences to provide appropriate care and treatment for those with DS and to provide prognostic information relating to cognitive outcomes in those with comorbidities.

In this report, we describe the prevalence and disease burden of each mental disorder for the states of India, from 1990 to 2017.MethodsWe used all accessible data from multiple sources to estimate the prevalence of mental disorders, years lived with disability (YLDs), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) caused by these disorders for all the states of India from 1990 to 2017, as part of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study. We assessed the heterogeneity and time trends of mental disorders across the states of India. We grouped states on the basis of their Socio-demographic Index (SDI), whi...

Epidemiological studies demonstrate an association between asthma and mental health disorders, although little is known about the shared genetics and causality of this association. Thus, we aimed to investigate shared genetics and the causal link between asthma and mental health disorders. We conducted a large-scale genome-wide cross-trait association study to investigate genetic overlap between asthma from the UK Biobank and eight mental health disorders from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorder (ANX), autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, eating diso...

AbstractMajor psychiatric traits are genetically inter-correlated with one another, but it not well known which genes play pleiotropic effects across different traits. We curated and compared genes identified from large-scale genome-wide association studies for seven psychiatric traits, including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, anxiety and neuroticism. We then explored biological functions of the top pleiotropic genes. A total of 243 cross-trait genes were identified for the seven traits. Except for autism spectrum disorder, there was signific...
