Degenerative findings in lumbar spine MRI: an inter-rater reliability study involving three raters

ConclusionInter-rater reliability for 3 raters, evaluating 177 disc levels, was found to be overall acceptable for 6 out of 8 degenerative MRI-findings in the lumbar spine. Ratings of facet joint degeneration and disc contour achieved moderate reliability and was considered unacceptable.

ConclusionsPatients with concomitant unilateral HOA and LBP showed a marked anteverted FNA in the arthritic hip and a spinopelvic misalignment. After THR, a relief of both hip and low back pain and a change in spinopelvic parameters is observed.

Conclusions In patients with low back pain and negative dynamic X-Rays, an accurate analysis of the radiological exams (CT, MRI, X-Rays) allows to formulate a diagnosis of suspect MI with a good predictive value. We report an unusual and unreported complication after pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) for sagittal imbalance correction. A 69 y.o. female came to our attention suffering for severe low back pain and neurogenic claudication caused by an adult scoliosis with significant sagittal imbalance (Fig. 1 A, B) and L3-L4 spondylolisthesis and spinal canal stenosis (Fig. 1 C). The patient underwent a PSO of L4 followed by posterior instrumentation from T10 to ileum (Fig 2 A,B).

Discussion Correctly indicated non-operative management or surgery changes the natural history of these pathologies. The aim of treatment is to resolve pain in adolescence, as it risks becoming chronic and disabling by adulthood. Level of evidence IV.
