In the fire needling group, the burnt-red three-edged needle was inserted to the deep layer of the cyst. After the fluid was squeezed out, the cupping was exerted. The treatment was given 1 to 2 times a week, for 4 weeks totally. In the western medication group, prednisolone acetate 25mg was injected in the cyst capsule, once a week, for 4 weeks totally. The effective rate, recurrence rate and Rauschning-Lindgren grading were evaluated before and after treatment.ResultsThe total effective rate was 80.0% in the fire needling group and was 83.3% in the western medication group, without statistical significance in comparison (P> 0.05). The recurrence rate was 6.7% in the fire needling group and was 30% in the western medication group. We examined the expression of TRPV1 in peripheral tissue and DRG neurons of CPIP model rats and we studied whether CPIP model could induce peripheral sensitization of TRPV1 channel and enhance DRG neuron excitability. Then we examined the therapeutic effects of locally applied TRPV1 specific antagonist AMG9810 on pain responses of CPIP model rats. Lastly, we explored the effects of AMG9810 on DRG neuron hyperexcitability and spinal glial activation induced by CPIP. Our results demonstrate that TRPV1 plays an important role in mediating the behavioral hypersensitivity of CPIP model rats via promoting peripheral nociceptor a...

When patients present to the emergency department (ED) for pain, conventional treatment is often limited to prescription medications.   Hospitals are now seeking non-pharmacological management options for acute pain due to the opioid crisis. Our quality improvement study aimed to determine the feasibility of implanting an employed acupuncturist within an urban ED to provide acupuncture as a nonpharmacological acute pain managemen t option and to determine the impact of acupuncture on acute pain reduction.

Acupuncture has been used for centuries by practitioners around the world for treatment of a variety of conditions. Even so, limited studies have evaluated the patient population that utilizes acupuncture. We aimed to explore the associations between patient characteristics and utilization of acupuncture services, as well as treatment outcomes. We conducted an exploratory retrospective study of adult patients in a large, eastern Wisconsin medical system that either (1) received acupuncture referral and treatment, (2) received acupuncture referral only, or (3) received treatment only, during 1/2005 - 6/2016.

Conclusion: The ATACS program provided a foundational template to increase CIM across the MHS and VHA. The lessons learned in the program's implementation will aid future CIM training programs and improve program evaluations. Future work is needed to determine the most efficient means of improving CIM credentialing and privileging procedures, standardizing and adopting uniform CIM EHR codes and documentation, and examining the effectiveness of CIM techniques in real-world settings. Rescuers brought two adult bears, one of them pregnant, and the young mountain lion to veterinarians with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the university after the animals were hurt in the largest wildfire in state history. They were found in the Los Padres Nation...
