Dr. Robert Smith, who joined the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1975 as the first director of the Department of Family Medicine and was recipient of the Health Care Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Business Courier in 2016, died Wednesday at age 98. He founded the Department of Family Medicine with two faculty members and built it to 34.
