Blood glucose levels may be managed using smart insulin patch
According to a study published inNature Biomedical Engineering, a smart insulin patch that monitors blood glucose levels may be able to effectively deliver insulin to people with diabetes.Medical Dialogues
Conclusion. In this consecutive case series we performed 231 ADRs in 147 patients in the outpatient setting, including multilevel and revision procedures, with 2 minor postoperative complications resulting in hospital unplanned admissions within 90 days. We believe that these procedures are safe to perform in an ASC. An efficient surgical team and careful patient selection criteria are critical in making this possible. Level of Evidence: 3
Conclusion. Spinal infection in the presence of liver cirrhosis is challenging. The rate epidural abscess formation is relatively high. Early diagnosis remains the main cornerstone in the management and the indication for surgery should be carefully considered. Minimally invasive techniques should be used when possible to minimize complication rate, and higher amounts of intraoperative blood loss should be expected. Level of Evidence: 4
One would hope that it does not require an ongoing pandemic and related hysteria to point out that old people have poorly functioning immune systems, and thus suffer disproportionately the burden of infectious disease. But perhaps it does. The 2017-2018 seasonal influenza, a modestly more severe occurrence of something that happens every year, killed something like 60,000 people in the US alone, with little notice or comment. There is nothing so terrible that it won't be accepted - ignored, even - if it is normal. Floodgates of funding for infectious disease research and development have been opened in response to C...
TYPE 2 diabetes is a chronic condition that can be a precursor to more serious health problems so it is imperative to keep the condition in check. Lowering blood sugar levels helps to stabilise the condition and a particular cooking oil has been shown to facilitate this process.

Whether or not the mortality finding is real, one expert says, in any case, levothyroxine doesn't make older patients with subclinical hypothyroidism feel any better, so is unwarranted.Medscape Medical News
AbstractSitagliptin attenuates left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and may improve oxygen uptake in animals. The effects of sitagliptin on oxygen uptake (VO2) and exercise hemodynamics have been unclear in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and coronary artery disease (CAD). Thirty patients with T2DM and CAD were randomized into a sitagliptin (50 mg/day) or voglibose (0.6 mg/day) group. Patients underwent maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing. VO2 and hemodynamics were evaluated at rest, anaerobic threshold and peak exercise. Resting LV diastolic function (E ’, peak early diastolic mitral annular velocity...
