Legaz, Juan / Karasan, Duygu / Fehmer, Vincent / Sailer, IrenaPage 538 - 544The prototyping protocol to evaluate and make the potential adjustments prior to finalization of the monolithic restorations was described by two clinical situations. In the first case report, following the digital impressions using an intraoral scanner (3Shape Trios, 3Shape) for an implant-supported four-unit fixed dental prosthesis, a digital design (3Shape Dental System, 3Shape) was performed and a prototype using subtractive CAM (milling) (PMMA, Telio CAD, Ivoclar Vivadent) was fabricated. The second case highlights the 3D-printed prototyping (...

We report on a 31-year-old male patient with non-invasive papillary urothelial carcinoma, low grade of the renal pelvis disguised as xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. The only symptom of the patient was lower back pain. The initial renal-enhanced computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography showed that the right kidney had a benign lesion and this inflammatory lesion might be xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. A percutaneous renal biopsy was performed and histopathologic examination revealed a xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. Initially, we diagnosed it as xanthogranulomatous p...

AbstractDecision aids (DAs) are evidence-based tools that support shared decision-making (SDM) implementation in practice; this study aimed to identify existing osteoporosis DAs and assess their quality and efficacy; and to gain feedback from a patient advisory group on findings and implications for further research. We searched multiple bibliographic databases to identify research studies from 2000 to 2019 and undertook an environmental scan (search conducted February 2019, repeated in March 2020). A pair of reviewers, working independently selected studies for inclusion, extracted data, evaluated each trial ’s risk...

CONCLUSIONS: Due to the high incidence of the anatomical variants of the paranasal sinuses, aCT scan is recommended in all patients before a planned surgery in order to avoid the potential iatrogenic complications. Dimensions of the sphenoid sinuses might point towards more at risk variants, but there is still a substantial amount of research that needs to be done in that aspect. This study was done to study the anthropometry of nonarthritic Asian knees; to determine the differences in morphology between knees of different ethnicities and to compare the knee anthropometry values with sizes of available knee implants. Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging scans of 100 nonarthritic Indian knees were analyzed. Anteroposterior (AP) length, mediolateral (ML) length, and aspect ratio of the distal femur and proximal tibia, patellar length, and patellar tendon length were measured. These values were compared with values of other ethnicities from literature. The values were also compared with sizes of av...

Authors: Mahmoudzadeh H, Nikibakhsh AA, Pashapour S, Ghasemnejad-Berenji M Abstract BACKGROUND: A link between vitamin D deficiency and susceptibility to bacterial and viral infections has recently been suggested. AIM: To investigate a possible association between vitamin D deficiency and urinary tract infection (UTI). METHODS: A case-control study was undertaken comprising 75 children aged 2-7 years with UTI (cases) compared with 75 healthy controls in terms of serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels. Serum 25(OH)D levels were measured using a chemiluminescence assay. For cases, dimercaptosuccinic ...

Authors: Arnaout A, Varela NP, Allarakhia M, Grimard L, Hey A, Lau J, Thain L, Eisen A Abstract Background: In Ontario, there is no clearly defined standard of care for staging for distant metastasis in women with newly diagnosed and biopsy-confirmed breast cancer whose clinical presentation is suggestive of early-stage disease. This guideline addresses baseline imaging investigations for women with newly diagnosed primary breast cancer who are otherwise asymptomatic for distant metastasis. Methods: The medline and embase databases were systematically searched for evidence from January 2000 to April 2019, and t...
