AbstractThe crucial role of ganglioside GM1 in the regulation of neural homeostasis has been assessed by several studies. Recently we shed new light on the molecular basis underlying GM1 effects demonstrating that GM1 oligosaccharide directly binds TrkA receptor and triggers MAPK pathway activation leading to neuronal differentiation and protection. Following its exogenous administration, proteomic analysis revealed an increased expression of proteins involved in several biochemical mechanisms, including mitochondrial bioenergetics. Based on these data, we investigated the possible effect of GM1 oligosaccharide administrat...

Abstract Guided by computational analysis, herein we report the design, synthesis and evaluation of four novel diazine-based histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis). The targets of interest (TOI) are analogues of panobinostat, one of the most potent and versatile HDACi reported. By simply replacing the phenyl core of panobinostat with that of a diazine derivative, docking studies against HDAC2 and HDAC8 revealed that the four analogues exhibit inhibition activities comparable to that of panobinostat. Multistep syntheses afforded the visualized targets TOI1, TOI2, TOI3-rev and TOI4 whose biological evaluation confirmed the ...

Embryonal tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) are rare, high-grade neoplasms predominantly affecting the pediatric population. Well-defined embryonal tumors include medulloblastoma, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor, embryonal tumor with multilayered rosettes, C19MC-altered and embryonal tumor with multilayered rosettes, not otherwise specified, pineoblastoma, pituitary blastoma, CNS neuroblastoma, and ganglioneuroblastoma. Although their prognosis is nearly uniformly poor, the rapidly evolving understanding of their molecular biology contributes to diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and clinical trial participation. K...

Authors: Roşu GA, Furău GO, Ionescu CA, Dimitriu MCT, Neacşu A, Ioan RG, Călin FD, Matei A, Bănacu M, Popescu I, Gheorghiu D, Neacşu I, Bacalbaşa N, Furău CG Abstract Epithelial ovarian carcinoma makes up 90-95% of all ovarian malignancies, taking into account also low-malignant-potential tumors. The Krukenberg tumor is a rare metastatic adenocarcinoma (ADK) in the ovary, representing 1-2% of ovarian tumors. Multiple primary malignant neoplasms may exist when more than one cancerous tumor is diagnosed in the same or a different organ. The incidence of multiple primary cancers among malignancies is between 2...

Conclusion: Adrenal gland tumors of childhood with complex immunophenotypic features requires distinguishing two discrete tumors in the small round blue cell tumor group, neuroblastoma and Ewing sarcoma. Although no exact diagnosis of the tumor was made, we reached a good response with neuroblastoma treatment protocol. PMID: 32242756 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: The results suggest that resveratrol promotes the catalytic activity of xenobiotic metabolizing enzyme, Cyp2d22/CYP2D6, which partially contributes to Nrf2 activation in pesticides-induced Parkinsonism. PMID: 32242774 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: The obtained data indicate that mirtazapine and imipramine have neuroprotective effects against H2O2-induced cell death. Although both antidepressants reduced Bax and p53 mRNA expression, only the protection mediated by imipramine might be due to its ability to enhance Bcl-2/Bax ratio.
