This study also demonstrates that HRV infection upregulates PAD2 protein expression, and increases levels of protein citrullination, including histone H3, in human bronchial epithelial cells. Increased PADI gene expression and HDP citrullination during infection may represent a novel viral evasion mechanism, likely applicable to a wide range of pathogens, and should therefore be considered in the design of therapeutic peptide derivatives.

CONCLUSION: IL-17A is a major regulator of inflammatory responses. In all the mentioned diseases, IL-17A plays a prime role in inducing the diseases, whereas the lack of this pro-inflammatory cytokine reduces the severity of respective respiratory diseases. CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest socio-demographic factors (race/ethnicity, insurance status, and area-level SES) may confer vulnerability to temperature-related pediatric asthma morbidity. Our findings of weaker associations among children with Medicaid compared to other health insurance types and among children living in low compared to high SES areas run counter to our belief that children from disadvantaged households or ZIP codes would be more vulnerable to the respiratory effects of temperature. Human rhinovirus (HRV)—the most prevalent respiratory virus—causes up to half of common colds [1,2] and imposes a significant economic burden [3]. HRV has also been associated with bronchiolitis [4], pneumonia [5], and exacerbation of breathing difficulties in populations with underlying respiratory conditions, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) [6–8]. Prior to the era of molecular testing, rhinovirus was considered to be a relatively mild pathogen of questionable importance.
