Authors: Kang Y, Cui Y, Tan M Abstract Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial malignancy of the head and neck that is prevalent in China. The present study investigated the molecular mechanisms of microRNA-212 (miR-212) and E74-like factor 3 (ELF3) in NPC cell lines and tissues. Using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, the present study identified that miR-212 expression was downregulated in NPC cell lines and tissues. Furthermore, an elevated expression level of miR-212 was revealed to inhibit NPC cell proliferation, as determined using a cell counting kit-8 assay in vitro. ELF3 was identified as a d...

Authors: Wang QS, Wei SR, Xiao HL Abstract Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-associated mortality in China with 85% of patients having non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Identifying NSCLC driver genes and prognostic markers is critical to reducing these numbers. The studies of retinoblastoma binding protein 6 (RBBP6) performed on NSCLC is limited. The present study aimed to investigate the molecular function and the prognostic potential of RBBP6 in NSCLC using the A549 cell line and patient samples, respectively. The functional effect on cancer cell proliferation and prognostic value of RBBP6 were exa...

Authors: Chen YQ, Zhao SP, Ye HJ Abstract Backgroud: We investigated the lipid-lowering efficacy and safety of coenzyme A (CoA) versus fenofibrate in Chinese patients with moderate dyslipidemia. Methods: A total of 417 subjects (aged 18-75 years) diagnosed with moderate dyslipidemia (triglyceride, 2.3-6.5 mmol/L) from 13 large cardiovascular centers in China were recruited and randomly divided into a fenofibrate group (n = 207), which received 200mg of fenofibrate orally once daily, and a CoA group (n = 210), which received 400mg of CoA orally once a day. Blood lipoproteins, liver ...
