CNIC researchers minimize damage during a heart attack with a drug costing less than €2.00
(Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares) Early treatment--during ambulance or helicopter transit to the hospital--with metoprolol, a cheap drug available for more than 30 years, significantly reduces damage to the heart during a myocardial infarction, according to the results of the METOCARD-CNIC study published in the latest edition of Circulation, the leading journal in the cardiovascular field.
