The effect of weight loss on the progression of meniscal extrusion and size in knee osteoarthritis: A post-hoc analysis of the Intensive Diet and Exercise for Arthritis (IDEA) trial
Weight loss has beneficial effects on clinical outcomes in knee osteoarthritis (OA), but the mechanism is still unclear. Since meniscus extrusion is associated with knee pain, this study assessed whether weight loss by diet and/or exercise is associated with less progression in meniscus extrusion measures over time.
Conclusion: The current review identified strong, high-quality evidence to recommend hip muscle strengthening in the conservative management of persons with knee OA. Further research is needed to establish the underlying mechanisms for the clinical benefits.
Conclusion: Muscle strength as measured by grip strength and knee extension was statistically significantly correlated with the WOMAC scores in patients with knee symptoms regardless of whether radiologic signs of knee osteoarthritis were observed.

Several reports in the literature have identified an association between cortisol levels and the presence of chronic pain in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain or whiplash. In contrast, few have examined the association of cortisol and pain in people with osteoarthritis (OA). The purpose of this systematic review was to verify the association between cortisol and pain in the OA population.
Conclusions: Our short-term follow-up evaluation shows that hip arthroscopy for pediatric and adolescent hip disorder is a less invasive and safe procedure. It appears to be effective in improving functional impairment caused by femoroacetabular impingement between the deformed femoral head and acetabulum or intra-articular focal problems in pediatric and adolescent hip disorders. We report a case of 26-year-old woman with left breast cancer referred for 18F-NaF PET-CT. She is complaining of right thumb and wrist pain. Findings are negative for bone secondaries. Dedicated hands views are acquired on positron emission scanner which shows focal uptake at 1st carpometacarpcal and 2nd metacarpophalangeal joints.
