Complete Hydatidiform Mole and Co-Existing Live Fetus after Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Conclusion: CHMCF may occur after ICSI treatment. Pregnancies with CHMCF are associated with severe complications however under close follow-up successful outcomes could be achieved in such pregnancies. PMID: 31997691 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between previous cesarean section (C/S) and risk for post-molar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). METHODS: Data from patients who were treated for hydatidiform moles between 1995 and 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Patient age, gravidity, parity, abortion history, gestational age, pretreatment beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), previous molar pregnancy, clinical symptoms, enlarged uterus, theca lutein cyst, type of GTN, World Health Organization risk score, chemotherapy, and mode of delivery were recorded. Hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confid...

Partial and complete hydatidiform moles (PHM, CHM) are a common cause of pregnancy loss. To assess the frequency and nature of genomic imbalances, specifically polyploidy resulting in PHM and whole-genome uniparental disomy (WG-UPD) resulting in CHM, a comprehensive analysis of a large  cohort of miscarriage samples was analyzed by single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based chromosomal microarray (CMA).

ConclusionsWe show for the first time that the integrity of the SCMC is essential for de novo methylation in the female germline. These findings have important implications for understanding the role of the SCMC in DNA methylation and for the origin of imprinting defects, for counselling affected families, and will help inform future therapeutic approaches.

ConclusionsA strategy composed of selective clinicopathological screening, immunohistochemical interpretation and accurate genotyping is recommended for diagnostically challenging mixed-genomic POC of potential twin pregnancy with HM, especially to differentiate a non-molar mosaic conception from a partial mole.

Management of these cases is challenging due to the risk of severe antepartum and post-partum complications. Herein, we report the case of a 24-year-old gravida 2 para 1 who presented at 28 weeks gestation with severe preeclampsia, vulvar edema and a serum β-HCG of 285,000 IU /mL. Ultrasonography demonstrated a single live intra-uterine pregnancy with concurrent hydatidiform mole. Conservative ma...

Enigmatically, they are also associated with DNA methylation abnormalities at imprinted genes in conceptuses, in the devastating gestati...

The NCCN Guidelines for Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia provides treatment recom...

Rationale: Invasive moles occur in the fertile period, with about 95% occurring after previous mole removal and the remaining 5% occurring after several other pregnancies. Patient concerns: A 27-year-old patient developed a rare invasive mole two months after a missed abortion. Diagnoses: A transvaginal ultrasound scan revealed a 3.6 × 2.9 × 2.4 cm sized lesion with cystic vascular areas within it, within the myometrium of the right fundal posterior region of the uterus. There was no metastasis to other organs. Interventions: After administration of methotrexate, the level of beta-human chorionic g...

ConclusionPhysicians should be aware that ovarian cysts can occur and can increase rapidly after abortion of a hydatidiform mole. However, the ovarian cyst can return to its original size spontaneously even if it becomes huge.
