This “100% natural” skin moisturizer is a top seller on Amazon.com this week. Let’s look at the label to see how natural it really is. Color us skeptical but most product that claim to be all-natural typically end up with hidden synthetic ingredients. So imagine our surprise to see that NaturOli lives up to its name better than most we have seen. The good and bad of natural As you can see from the ingredient list below all of the oil-based ingredients are derived from plant sources such as olives, avocados and sesame seeds. It also uses an amino acid derived preservative rather than the typical formaldehyde releasers. So you’re interested in avoiding synthetics (even though the best science to date says it’s not a problem) this product may appeal to you. However if you’re more interested in efficacy then you may want to rethink this purchase. NaturOli doesn’t contain any of the ingredients which have been proven best at sealing moisture in skin such as dimethicone or petrolatum. (Yes we know those are synthetic demons according to some people but they are the most effective beyond a shadow of a doubt.)
