Association between physical activity, cardiorespiratory fitness, and body composition with menopausal symptoms in early postmenopausal women

Conclusion: Reducing sitting time, improving VO2max, decreasing WHR, and exercise can be recommended by priority to alleviate menopausal symptoms. Considering the small number of participants in this investigation, future studies are, however, recommended.

AbstractPurposeOur aim was to investigate the serum endocan levels and carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) measurements of pre- and postmenopausal patients to clarify the relationship between the menopausal transition and endothelial injury.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was conducted on women who were premenopausal and postmenopausal between January 2019 and June 2019. The patients were divided into two groups according to premenopausal (n = 32) and postmenopausal (n = 32) status. Serum endocan levels were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Conclusions: Given that estrogen-alone therapy has been shown to be associated with increased risk of ovarian cancer, these findings are consistent with the hypothesis that adding a progestin each day ameliorates the carcinogenic effects of estrogen on the cells of origin for all histotypes of ovarian cancer.

Abstract Genistin is a type of isoflavone glycoside and has a broad range of health benefits. It is found in a variety of dietary plants, such as soybean, kudzu (Japanese arrowroot), and other plant-based products. Genistin has been described to have several beneficial health impacts, such as decreasing the risk of osteoporosis and post-menopausal symptoms, as well as anti-cancer, anti-oxidative, cardioprotective, anti-apoptotic, neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, and anti-microbial activities. It may also assist individuals with metabolic syndrome. This review summarizes some of the molecular impacts and prospect...

ConclusionsSerum HE4 levels can potentially be used as a marker to differentiate between benign and malignant ovarian disease with elevated serum CA125 levels. The high specificity of HE4 was superior in identifying benign ovarian disease. We recommend increasing the cutoff values of HE4 in premenopausal patients and decreasing the cutoff values in postmenopausal patients for increased accuracy in the differential diagnosis of patients with elevated CA125 levels.

CONCLUSIONS: The serum levels of CA125 and HE4, ROMA index and IHC markers for surgical tissue fragments play a very important role in discriminating and reporting borderline ovarian tumors, as well as benign or malignant ovarian forms. Due to the superior sensitivity and specificity of CA125 and HE4, we can consider these markers as an alternative or additional diagnostic criterion to the ROMA index.
