The objective of the paper is to study cases of premalignant and malignant tumors, with a view to their imagistic identification confirmed in terms of histopathology, to highlight the accuracy of the imagistic examination as an important factor in the diagnosis and adaptation of an appropriate therapeutic attitude. The study was performed on a batch of 768 patients admitted to the Department of Surgery III, "Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu" Institute of Oncology, Bucharest, Romania. The classical examined hypothesis is local examination, mammography, ultrasound, with its variations, and histopathological (HP) co...

AbstractObjectivesTo evaluate the usefulness of bilateral mammography in male patients with unilateral breast symptoms, including investigation of the diagnostic performance of unilateral and bilateral reviews and the average glandular dose (AGD) per exposure.MethodsTwo hundred seventy-one consecutive male patients (mean age, 57  years) with unilateral breast symptoms underwent bilateral mammography. Image interpretation was performed in two ways, first with a unilateral review of the symptomatic breast and then with a bilateral review. A modified BI-RADS scale (from 1 to 5) was used. The diagnostic performance of uni...

AbstractBreast cancer is the leading killer of Chinese women. Immunohistochemistry index has great significance in the treatment strategy selection and prognosis analysis for breast cancer patients. Currently, histopathological examination of the tumor tissue through surgical biopsy is the gold standard to determine immunohistochemistry index. However, this examination is invasive and commonly causes discomfort in patients. There has been a lack of noninvasive method capable of predicting immunohistochemistry index for breast cancer patients. This paper proposes a machine learning method to predict the immunohistochemical ...

Abstract A broad range of chalcones and derivatives were easily and rapidly synthesized, following Claisen-Schmidt condensation of (hetero)aryl ketones and (hetero)aryl aldehydes using a ultrasound probe. A comparison was made with classical magnetic stirring experiments, and an optimization study was realized, showing lithium hydroxide to be the best basic catalyst of the studied condensations. By-products of the reactions (β-hydroxy-ketone, diketones, and cyclohexanols) were also isolated. All compounds were evaluated in vitro for their ability to inhibit human farnesyltransferase, a protein implicated in c...

CONCLUSION: CEUS demonstrated good sensitivity in detecting breast cancer, and the combined use with MRI can optimize the diagnostic specificity and accuracy in breast cancer prediction. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Few studies have compared the diagnostic efficacy of CEUS and MRI, and this study is the first attempt to seek out the diagnostic values for breast lesions of variable sizes (lesions with ≤20 mm and>20 mm).
