Getting to the root of plant survival

(University of Delaware) In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers have been able to identify hormones and proteins that interact to regulate root emergence. Deeper understanding of this communication loop may eventually lead to the ability to control when and how many additional roots a plant can form - which would be a key weapon in battling dry conditions caused by climate change.
