ConclusionsIn favor of AVr, good patient selection, amenable techniques for the suitable pathology will give a good target hence the aim of the work.

Presence of purpura, renal damage, and pathological findings on skin biopsy led to the diagnosis of IgA vasculitis (IgAV). Oral prednisolone (PSL) was initiated. However, Streptococcus pseudoporcinus was isolated from blood cultures, and transthoracic echocardiogram revealed vegetation on the pulmonary valve. From these f...

The aim of the present study was to describe our pediatric population and to highlight the differences with the adult population.MethodsIn this retrospective monocentric cohort, 52 consecutive children with IE were included between January, 2000 and May, 2018.ResultsThe median age was 9 [4-14] years. Thirty-two (61.5%) children had congeni...

ConclusionsInfective endocarditis in patients with CHD is an ongoing clinical challenge. In contemporary practice in tertiary congenital centres, 1/15 patients do not survive to hospital discharge. Streptococci remain the most common causative organism, and antecedent dental or medical procedures were undertaken in a significant minority in the three months before diagnosis. The presence of an atrioventricular septal defect or staphylococcal infection is associated with significantly increased risk of early mortality.

We present a patient with a known ventricular septal defect presenting with recurrent fevers associated with migratory lung nodules following a “low‐risk” dental procedure without antibiotic prophylaxis. The unusual presentation delayed the diagnosis of the migratory lung lesions as septic pulmonary emboli and consequentially the diagnosis of ventricular septal defect related infective endocarditis. The patient made an uneventful reco very following antibiotic therapy and surgical intervention.

Conclusion: There is a change in the spectrum and antimicrobial susceptibility of organisms causing IE. We encountered several difficulties with the use of the MDC as 43.5% patients had no predisposing factors for IE and blood cultures were negative in 22.6% cases. In our study, PVE was the most common predisposing condition for IE. VGS followed by enterococci were found to be the commonest cause for IE in our setting. Both organisms show variable drug resist patterns. MRSA was isolated in 1 patient only. Thus vancomycin may not be required as empiric treatment in our setting. This is important from the perspective of anti...

Conclusions: The majority of isolated bicuspid aortic valve cases without aortic stenosis did not require surgical intervention. Outcomes for cases requiring repair/replacement were relatively benign.

Abstract ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical efficacy, safety, and long‐term outcomes of percutaneous closure (PC) and surgical repair of ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (RSVA). MethodsEighty‐five consecutive patients with RSVA were included in this study. Patients were considered candidates for PC if they met the criterion, surgical repair was performed on patients who were unsuitable or failed PC. Of them, 30 patients underwent PC, while the other 55 patients had surgical repair. ResultsRSVA was successfully occluded in 29 of 30 patients who were treated by PC. The mean narrowest diameter at the ruptured site was 6...
