Abortion Rights in Peril—What Clinicians Need to Know

(Abstracted from N Engl J Med 2019;381(6):497–449) Although attempts to ban abortion in the United States have been common since the 1973 Roe vs Wade and Doe vs Bolton decisions, 2019 has seen an unprecedented surge of abortion restrictions passed by states. The past 46 years have seen more than 1200 laws restricting abortion access put in place, despite continuous rulings by the Supreme Court affirming the constitutional right to abortion.
