P050 substance use occurs frequently in patients with crohn's disease
Crohn ’s disease (CD) is an inflammatory disease of the gut with multiple psychosocial comorbidities, including lost wages, stress on loved ones, and psychiatric illnesses, all of which are associated with substance use disorders. While approximately 7.5% of individuals aged 12 or older in the United St ates have a substance use disorder, we know little about this issue among patients with CD. Using a nationally representative dataset, we examined the burden of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug use among patients with CD in the United States.
