Downregulation of LINC01140 is associated with adverse features of breast cancer.

Downregulation of LINC01140 is associated with adverse features of breast cancer. Oncol Lett. 2020 Feb;19(2):1157-1164 Authors: Li D, Li L, Cao Y, Chen X Abstract Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most dangerous malignant diseases among women. A growing amount of evidence has suggested that long non-coding RNAs participate in the development and progression of BC and may potentially serve as therapeutic targets or prognostic markers for the disease. A previous study demonstrated that long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 01140 (LINC01140) was prominently correlated with overall survival in patients with gastric cancer. However, the function of LINC01140 in BC has not yet been elucidated. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the roles and molecular mechanisms underlying LINC01140 in BC. LINC01140 expression in 1,085 breast cancer patients and 291 healthy subjects was analyzed from the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis website. The association between LINC01140 expression and T stages, LINC01140-related biological pathways, and the correlation between LINC01140 expression genes were also analyzed in 825 patients with BC through the cBioPortal database. The present study demonstrated that LINC01140 expression was significantly decreased in the tumor samples compared with normal samples in patients with BC (P

In this study, we demonstrated that GPR30 is involved in cisplatin resistance by promoting EMT in gastric cancer. GPR30 knockdown resulted in increased sensitivity of different gastric cancer (GC) cells to cisplatin and alterations in the epithelial/mesenchymal markers. Furthermore, G15 significantly enhanced the cisplatin sensitivity of GC cells while G1 inhibited this phenomenon. In addition, EMT occurred when AGS and BGC-823 were treated with cisplatin. Down-regulation of GPR30 with G15 inhibited this transformation, while G1 promoted it. Taken together, these results revealed the role of GPR30 in the formation of cispl...

Authors: Darzi S, Mirzaei SA, Elahian F, Shirian S, Peymani A, Rahmani B, Dibazar SP, Aali E Abstract The capability of flavonoids in sensitizing cancer cells was demonstrated in numerous works to chemotherapy and converse multidrug resistance by modulating efflux pumps and apoptosis mechanisms. Three flavonoids, namely, bavachinin, tephrosin, and candidone, have been recently introduced to cancer treatment research presenting various activities, such as antibacterial, immunomodulatory, cell death, and anticancer. Less information exists regarding the therapeutic significance of these flavonoids in cancer treatment...

TOPK promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition and invasion of breast cancer cells through upregulation of TBX3 in TGF-β1/Smad signaling. Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2019 Nov 20;: Authors: Lee YJ, Park JH, Oh SM Abstract TOPK has been suggested to contribute to invasion of lung, prostate, gastric, pancreatic or breast cancer cells. However, how TOPK mediates TGF-β1/Smad signaling leading to epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion of breast cancer cells remains unknown. Here we report that TOPK upregulates T-box transcription factor TBX3 to enhance TGF-β1-induced EMT and in...

SDC1 has different effects in various types of cancers. On the one hand, reduced expression of SDC1 can leads to advantage stages of some cancers, such as gastric and colorectal cancer. On the other hand, SDC1 overexpression can also promote the growth and proliferation of cancer cells in pancreatic and breast cancer. Howe...

In this study, 13 Panaxadiol (PD) derivatives were synthesized via reactions with aromatic compounds and amino acids. Following this, the cytotoxicity of these compounds was evaluated against four cancer cell lines (human hepatoma cell HepG-2, human lung cancer cell A549, human breast cancer cell MCF-7, and human colon cancer cell HCT-116) and one normal cell line (human gastric epithelial cell line-GES- 1). The results showed that Compounds 3, 12, and 13 showed significant inhibition of cellular proliferation against cancer cells compared with PD, and Compound 12 had the lowest IC50 value for A549 (IC50 = 18.91 ± 1...

Ding-Kun Zhang Gac fruit (Momordica cochinchinensis Spreng) is a popular tropical fruit in southeast Asia. What is amazing is that its seeds (Momordicae Semen) and arils are traditional herbs with anti-tumor activity, and have protected human health for more than 1000 years. In recent years, its anti-tumor activity has received extensive attention and research. This manuscript summarized the chemical composition of saponins, fatty acids, volatile constituents, proteins, peptides, and other components from Momordicae Semen (MSE). The effect and mechanism of MSE and its extract on breast cancer, gastric cancer, lung c...

In this study, HER2 and MUC1-based peptides were synthesized and preclinically evaluated in an effort to develop peptide-based SPECT radiopharmaceuticals derived from tumor-associated antigens for the detection of breast cancer. Our findings demonstrate that the tumor antigen peptides radiolabeled efficiently with 99mTc and showed high metabolic stability in human plasma in vitro. The data from breast tumor cell binding confirmed the high affinity (in low nanomolar range) towards respective breast cancer cell lines. In healthy mice, 99mTc-labeled peptides displayed favorable pharmacokinetics, with high excretion by the ren...
