ConclusionLow-grade chondrosarcomas continue to pose a diagnostic dilemma. Thallium-201 scans may identify malignancy in benign appearing tumours as well as differentiate between low-grade and high-grade chondrosarcomas in said malignancies. DMSA (V) may be useful in distinguishing between benign and malignant entities as a whole.

Conclusion: Metastatic spinal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma, although rare, should be part of the differential diagnosis when the patient presents with back pain and radiculopathy. We recommend the posterior approach for spinal decompression and total resection of the metastatic chondrosarcoma when the tumor has caused neurological deficits or other severe symptoms. Osteoplasty by cement augmentation is also a good choice for surgical treatment in some patients.

ConclusionsLow-grade chondrosarcomas continue to pose a diagnostic dilemma. FDG-PET demonstrated superior diagnostic accuracy compared to Tc-99m MDP, Thallium-201 and Tc-99m DMSA (V). Characteristic uptake patterns of Thallium-201 and Tc-99m DMSA (V) may provide additional metabolic information to guide the diagnosis in this challenging group of tumours.

ConclusionsChondral lesions in the shoulder have low risk of malignant transformation and are rarely responsible for shoulder symptoms. We recommend patients be referred to a dedicated BTU for surveillance if there are any concerning features, but to proceed with management for any alternative diagnosis.

In conclusion, enchondroma growth was a rare event and typically occurred at two years follow-up in our series. Given the low risk for malignant transformation, we propose surveillance with plain radiographic follow-up for stable enchondromas every 3-6 months for the first year and then annually for at least three years of total follow-up. The most significant costs savings can be made by limiting MRI imaging in the absence of clinical or radiographic concern. Conclusions: the accelerated hypofractionated active raster-scanned carbon ion radiotherapy for radioresistant laryngeal malignancies is feasible in practice with excellent local control rates and moderate acute and late toxicity.
