Frequency and characteristics of congenital intraspinal abnormalities in a cohort of 128 patients with congenital scoliosis

Conclusions: Our study showed a lower percentage of spinal anomalies compared to other series. As other studies, the progression of the scoliosis curve in patients with spinal anomalies seems primarily to be determined by the type of vertebral malformation. Level of Evidence: Level II.

Conclusions: Even with the absence of subjective urinary symptoms, subclinical urologic impairments can be observed in a significant number of patients with ISC. An abnormal UDS finding can be a sign of underlying spinal cord tethering in a patient with ISC who is a candidate for corrective spine surgery even though it is an independent variant and is not exclusive to candidates for surgery. ConclusionAIS patients showed more slender spines than the asymptomatic population. Analysis of wedging suggests that lower junctional discs and apex vertebra could be locations of mechanical instability. CONCLUSIONS: Cumulative radiation dose during scoliosis treatment varies substantially depending on radiographic follow-up protocol, intraoperative and ancillary imaging. By using low-dose X-ray systems in combination with a low-dose protocol for intraoperative navigation, it is possible to keep exposure to patients at a minimum while still providing optimal care.
