Contact System Activation During Erythema Marginatum In Hereditary Angioedema

Hereditary angioedema due to C1 inhibitor deficiency (HAE-C1INH) is a rare autosomal dominant disease. Patients often report prodromal symptoms that can precede the onset of a swelling attack1,2. Prodromes are frequently subjective however and attack correlation is unclear. Erythema marginatum (EM) the only objective and relatively specific prodrome for HAE-C1INH3,4 is reported in ∼40-% of HAE-C1INH patients5,6.
