Variations in psychiatric morbidity between traumatized Norwegian, refugees and other immigrant patients in Oslo.

Conclusion: Trauma is frequently associated with depression, anxiety disorders, somatoform pain disorder and PTSD in a clinical population. The clinical presentation and comorbidity of these disorders seem to vary significantly between traumatized patients with Norwegian, refugee and non-refugee immigrant backgrounds. After a major trauma, refugees may be at greater risk for both PTSD and depression than other immigrants and the native population. PMID: 31961250 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionWhile these practices were implemented because of sound biologic plausibility or encouraging observational data, well-done RCTs have failed to show evidence of effectiveness. These examples raise caution in introducing new clinical interventions into widespread clinical practice without sufficient high quality evidence demonstrating efficacy.

AbstractBurns and chronic wounds are especially challenging wounds to heal. In efforts to heal these wounds, physicians often use autologous skin grafts to help restore mechanical and barrier functionality to the wound area. These grafts are, by nature, limited in availability. In an effort to provide an alternative, we have developed an electrospun wound dressing designed to incorporate into the wound with the option to deliver a cellular payload. Here, a blend of poly(glycolic acid) and poly(ethylene glycol) was electrospun as part of a custom fabrication method that incorporated 3D printed poly(vinyl alcohol) sacrificia...

Here we aimed to study the anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive role of sulforaphane on sciatic nerve endometriosis. The sciatic nerve endometriosis rat model was constructed by autologous implantation of uterine tissue. Sulforaphane was administered intraperitoneally at the dose of 5, 15, 30 and 60 mg/kg/day for 28 days. Behavioral testing was performed at day 7, 14, 21 and 28. At day 2...

In this study, olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) were cultured, chitosan (CS) was prepared, and the compatibility of CS and OECs was detected by MTT method. Animal model of chronic constrictive sciatic nerve injury (CCI) was made, OECs and OECs+CS were transplanted to the region surrounding the chronic sciatic nerve injury, and the difference between the two groups in the treatment of NPP was compared. The mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured by using behavioral method. In situ hybridization and Western-blotting were used to detect the expression of P2X4R mRNA and protei...

In this paper, we formulate foam stabilizer by combining a polymer, two different surfactants, and six different nanoparticles. Static foam stability tests are conducted using alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as anionic and cationic surfactants, respectively, pol...

Authors: Herold A Abstract Hemorrhoidal disease is one of the most common illnesses in industrialized nations. Up to 70% of adults suffer from the disease once in their lifetime. This underlines the necessity and importance of knowing about the differential diagnosis of hemorrhoids. One can differentiate between differential diagnoses of symptoms (bleeding, pain, itching, tumor) and differential diagnoses of the phenotype findings (anal prolapse, mucosal prolapse and rectal prolapse, skin tags, hypertrophied anal papillae, condylomata acuminata, anal fissure, perianal venous thrombosis, anal cancer). Ángeles EstebanAbstractThe effects of skin wounds on the intestinal barrier function and the beneficial effects of the dietary administration of Shewanella putrefaciens (known as SpPdp11) in gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata L.) were studied. Two replicates of fish were fed a commercial diet (control, CON) or CON diet enriched with 109 cfu g−1 SpPdp11 (SP diet) for 30 days. After this time, half of the fish were sampled, while the others were injured...

PtNi-C catalyst was synthesized by combining Pt nanoparticles with Ni-BTC after annealing in the tube furnace and the unstable Ni species can be easily leached out in nitric acid, and the stable PtNi nanoparticles trapped in the graphite carbon layer were obtained. The ...
