We report a case of a 15-year-old adolescent who presented with a single pulmonary nodule on a chest radiograph, in the context of a respiratory infection, and whose etiological investigation revealed an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the lung. Atypical resection was performed by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, with full recovery. We highlight the rarity of this entity, the need for a high suspicion index and the diagnostic investigation undertaken to reach a definitive diagnosis and a successful outcome. AbstractLung ultrasound (US) cannot be considered a new diagnostic imaging technique anymore, with some articles dating back 50  years. The question that hovers over it recently is why it is still not widely accepted, like chest radiography. So, have we wasted a lot of time without using lung US, or are we wasting our time using lung US? The main goals of this article are to underline all the advantages, potentials and reas ons to use lung US in everyday clinical practice, but also to address the main concerns linked to this imaging tool. From the standpoint of an experienced pediatric radiologist from a tertiary heal...

ConclusionsThe cumulative probability of achieving normal pelvis radiographs increases linearly during the first five years following CR, then it tends to plateau. Age older than 24  months and Tönnis grade III and IV are associated with longer time to achieve normal radiographic parameters. Age older than 24 months, bilateral dislocation, pre-operative AI greater than 40°, and AVN are risk factors for reduced probability of achieving normal radiographic parameters in child ren with DDH treated by closed means.

AbstractIntroductionComputer-assisted surgery (CAS) relying on registration of the anterior pelvic plane (APP) allows precise acetabular component placement. We determined the variability of cup placement in patients who underwent THA with and without the use of CAS that does not rely on the registration of APP.MethodsFifty-one patients who underwent staged-bilateral THAs, one without CAS (control), and a subsequent one with CAS (study group), were included. Acetabular inclination and anteversion were measured on standardized post-operative radiographs. Variance in cup position and Lewinnek ’s zone proportionality we...

Authors: Akkemik O, Kazaz H, Tamsel S, Dündar N, Sahinalp S, Ellidokuz H Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of digital panoramic radiograph (DPR) for detection of carotid artery calcification (CAC) confirmed by Doppler Ultrasonography (DUSG) and to clarify the relationship between between CAC identified by DPR and cardiovascular events through a 5 year follow-up period. METHODS: Of 3600 consecutive patients examined, 158 patients presented with CAC as detected by DPR. The final study group was composed of 96 patients who had CAC confirmed by DUSG or CT angiogram. The control gro...

ConclusionThis is the first study to compare PEMF and CMF bone growth stimulators in patients with degenerative pathologies who underwent thoracolumbar spinal fusions. Overall, the addition of these bone growth stimulators does not improve fusion outcomes, although CMF appears superior to PEMF.

Conclusions: Our results confirmed the perpendicularity of the interlaminar line with the pedicle axis in the lumbar spine at all the levels. The interlaminar line is a useful guide for pedicle screw sagittal inclination. PMID: 32050312 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: La Monaca G, Pranno N, Vozza I, Annibali S, Polimeni A, Bossù M, Cristalli MP Abstract Traumatic injuries to the primary dentition are critical events in dentistry not only due to the need for urgent care, but also since they have potential sequelae in the permanent dentition, with a prevalence ranging from 12% to 74%. The aim of this article was to provide an overview of the prevalence, etiology, and clinical and radiographic characteristics as well as the management of permanent teeth sequelae resulting from traumatic injuries to their deciduous predecessors. An extensive literature review was per...
