Self-regulated learning instructional support for students enrolled in an accelerated nursing program

For some time, accelerated learning programs have constituted one of the fastest growing areas of higher education (Wlodkowski, 2003). In recent years, Australian universities have introduced accelerated programs to address shortfalls in the registered nurse (RN) workforce. These programs extend over 18 months to a two-year period (McKenna, Brooks,& Vanderheide, 2017). Students find transitioning into an accelerated program challenging in adjusting to the additional workload and the curriculum structure (Urquhart& Pooley, 2007).
