Levothyroxine Treatment of Pregnant Women with Hypothyroidism: Retrospective Analysis of a US Claims Database

ConclusionsA large percentage of pregnant women, including many treated with levothyroxine, was not treated in a manner consistent with clinical guidelines. Additionally, there were significant differences in general health and comorbidities between pregnant women treated with levothyroxine and those untreated.

Hence, it is significant for preventing protein glycation mediated by MGO. Here, the anti-glycation potential and mechanism of gallocatechin gallate (GCG) as an active ingredient of green tea were investigated. It was found that GCG exhibit good scavenging activitie...

Conclusion: Decidual vasculopathy at term contains the same CD56 positive extravillous endovascular trophoblasts seen with spiral artery remodeling in early pregnancy. CD56 may serve as a possible marker for decidual vasculopathy in the later stages of pregnancy. PMID: 32068473 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Warmbrunn MV, Herrema H, Aron-Wisnewsky J, Soeters MR, Van Raalte DH, Nieuwdorp M Abstract Introduction: Cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) are a group of interrelated disorders such as metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). As the prevalence of these diseases increases globally, efficient new strategies are necessary to target CMD and modifiable risk factors. In the past decade, evidence has accumulated regarding the influence of gut microbiota (GM) on CMD, providing new targets for therapeutic interventions.Areas covered: This narrative review discusses the pathophysi...

This study aims to investigate the gamma and neutron attenuation properties of several OAD (oral anti-diabetic drugs) samples. Our sample consists of seven different OAD films with different elemental compositions. The data were evaluated with Monte Carlo (MATLAB, WinX) techniques by SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) and EDS (Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy) analysis. By using WinXCOM in the energy range from 0.02 MeV to 20 MeV, the mass attenuation coefficients (μ/ρ) for OAD samples are calculated. Additionally, both effective removal cross-section and effective atomic numbers (Zeff) for the sample films ...

In this study, we evaluated the therapeutic effect of quercetin on thyroid dysfunction in L ‐thyroxin (LT4)‐induced hyperthyroidism rats. LT4 was used to prepare the experimental hyperthyroidism model via the intraperitoneal injection. Quercetin was injected at a series doses (5, 50, and 100 mg/kg) to LT4‐induced hypothyroidism rats once a day for 14 days. The body weight and foo d intake were measured once a week. The levels of thyroid hormones, liver function, oxidative stress markers, and antioxidant markers were measured using commercial enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay kits. Hematoxylin–eo...

Authors: Hepp Z, Lage MJ, Espaillat R, Gossain VV Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate outcomes associated with adherence to levothyroxine (LT4) in the US adult hypothyroidism population. METHODS: We used data from Truven's MarketScan databases from July 1, 2011 through December 31, 2015. Patients aged 18 or older were diagnosed with hypothyroidism (confirmed at least twice) and prescribed LT4. Patients were excluded if they did not have continuous insurance coverage or if they received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer or pregnancy during the study period. Multivariable analyses on a matched cohort of adherent and non-...
