Burn injuries are a significant cause of worldwide morbidity and mortality. This type of damage impacts society psychologically and economically by causing debilitating and life-long injuries, with dramatic clinical effects in humans [1,2]. These injuries can be caused by several factors, including ultraviolet (UV) radiation [3 –5].
