Transitioning through a Bachelor of Nursing program: The enrolled nurse experience
The Enrolled Nurse (EN) (similar to the Licensed Practical Nurse in North America and second-level nurse in the United Kingdom) is a registered member of a healthcare team that is required to work under the direct, or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) (Nursing& Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), 2016). Since the introduction of the hospital-based certificate qualification, there have been several changes to the training that ENs have undertaken in Australia, culminating in the nationally based diploma currently offered by the technical and further education sector (Jacob, McKenna,& D ’Amore, 2014).
