Differential Influence of Location-Specific White-Matter Hyperintensities on Attention Subdomains Measured Using the Attention Network Test. Attention, consisting of 3 independent component processes (alerting, orienting, and executive control), is crucial for cognitive functioning. Little is known about how WMHs interfere with these attention subdomains. In the present study, we sought to describe characteristics of attention deficits in patients with age-related WMHs and to assess whether the severity and location of lesions differentially affect specific attention subdomains using the attention network test (ANT), which is a computer-based paradigm tailored to accurately provide behavioral measures of the aforementioned subdomains. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 39 WMH patients and 39 age-, sex-, and education-matched controls underwent comprehensive neuropsychological and ANT evaluation. ConclusionsCardiac effects after severe late-onset PE were small and transient. This indicates that left ventricular hypertrophy after severe late-onset PE may be a secondary physiologic response to increased peripheral resistance in PE. Vascular mechanisms rather than persistent cardiac hypertrophy postpartum may be the culprit for increased long-term cardiovascular risk after PE.

CONCLUSION: For the first time, we could show that a larger oxytocin-induced attenuation of amygdala response to fearful faces is associated with lower subjective craving for alcohol and percentage of heavy drinking days in social drinkers. ConclusionMucormycosis is a rare, but well recognized fungal infection typically spreading by direct tissue invasion or hematogenously after angioinvasion. Few case reports highlight perineurial Mucor spreading and none detail dissemination along peripheral nerves as seen here. In light of the high morbidity and mortality of these infections, the importance of timely diagnosis and thorough imaging investigations including MR neurography is emphasized.
