Effectiveness of a stepwise cardiometabolic disease prevention program: Results of a randomized controlled trial in primary care
In conclusion, implementation of the CMD prevention program resulted in the detection of two- to threefold more patients with CMD. A significant drop in systolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels was found after one year of treatment. Modelling of these results should confirm the effect on long term endpoints.Trial registration: Dutch trial Register number NTR4277.
In this study, we first analyzed the chemical compounds of AG by HPLC-DAD-ESI-IT-TOF-MS n . Of the 31 compounds detected, 29 were identified based on previous results. Then, the effects of DMY and AG on high-fat diet hamster livers were studied and the metabolite levels and metabolic pathway activity of the liver were explored by 1H NMR metabolomics. Compared to the high-fat diet group, supplementation of AG and DMY attenuated the high-fat-induced increase in body weight, liver lipid deposition, serum triglycerides and total cholesterol levels, and normalized endogenous metabolite concentrations. PCA and PLS-DA score plots...
Conclusion: The study shows that the metabolomic method may be a valuable tool for studying the essence of toxicity induced by traditional Chinese medicine. PMID: 32071608 [PubMed]

The sample was systematically characterized through various techniques and its strong biomolecule‒metal interface structure was supported by the results. ...

Inocencio, Yao-Chun Wen, Hung-I YehBackgroundThe recommended target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) level for coronary artery disease (CAD) patients has been lowered from 100 to 70 mg/dL in several clinical guidelines for secondary prevention. We aimed to assess whether initiating statin treatment in CAD patients with baseline LDL-C 70&ndash...

ConclusionThe results suggest that polyphenols present in P. fraternus may be responsible for the anti-diabetic and renoprotective activity in rats. Such protective effects of could be mediated through flavonol-induced anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in the pancreas and kidneys.Graphical abstract
In conclusion, non‐viral gene therapy to rBCECs leads to protein secretion and signifies a method for NPC2 to target cells inside the CNS otherwise inaccessible due to the pres ence of the BBB. However, obtaining high transfection efficiencies is crucial in order to achieve sufficient therapeutic effects.
CONCLUSIONS: Elevated levels of sdLDL-C were associated with a higher prevalence of AIS, especially in non-cardioembolic stroke subtypes. After adjustment for other risk factors, sdLDL-C was found to be an independent risk factor for AIS. Also, sdLDL-C level was strongly associated with AIS severity and poor functional outcomes. Logistic regression models for AIS risk and prognosis prediction were established to help clinicians provide better prevention for high-risk subjects and monitor their prognosis. (Oregon State University) Gene-infused nanoparticles used for combating disease work better when they include plant-based relatives of cholesterol because their shape and structure help the genes get where they need to be inside cells.
