Chemical repair mechanisms of Tyrosyl and Tryptophanyl damaged residues in proteins by the superoxide radical anion

This article reports a computational kinetic and thermodynamic study of the chemical repair of radical-damaged tryptophan and tyrosine residues by the superoxide radical anion (O2 •)- hydroperoxyl radical (HO2•) pair, via... The content of this RSS Feed (c) The Royal Society of Chemistry

ConclusionThere was no statistically significant different between knotless versus knotted medial row double row rotator cuff repair constructs using suture tape in regard to displacement across the repair site, stiffness and ultimate load to failure. Despite previous evidence suggesting inferiority of knotless medial row technique using suture constructs, this evidence may support the biomechanical equivalency of knotless medial row technique using suture tape.

Cells with high replication stress rely on the upregulation of checkpoints like those governed by CHK1 for survival. Previous studies of the CHK1 inhibitor prexasertib demonstrated activity across multiple cancer types. Therefore, we sought to (1) identi...

Authors: Melloul S, Mosnier JF, Masliah-Planchon J, Lepage C, Le Malicot K, Gornet JM, Edeline J, Dansette D, Texereau P, Delattre O, Laurent Puig P, Taieb J, J-F E Abstract SMARCB1 is a tumor suppressor gene, which is part of SWI/SNF complex involved in transcriptional regulation. Recently, loss of SMARCB1 expression has been reported in gastrointestinal carcinomas. Our purpose was to evaluate the incidence and prognostic value of SMARCB1 loss in colon carcinoma (CC). Patients with stage III CC (n= 1695), and a second cohort of 23 patients with poorly differentiated CC were analyzed. Immunohistochemistry for SMARC...

Due to lightweight, high tensile strength and also long-term durability, all this tends CFRP as a major material. In this experimental paper, the different temperatures that are 100 °C, 200 °C, 300 °C, 400 °C are applied and analyze the effects on CFRP wrapped concrete. The experiment is conducted on 150...

Authors: Iking J, Klose J, Staniszewska M, Fendler W, Herrmann K, Rischpler C Abstract Inflammation after myocardial infarction (MI) has been in the focus of cardiovascular research for several years as it influences the remodelling process of the ischaemic heart and thereby critically determines the clinical outcome of the patient. Today, it is well appreciated that inflammation is a crucial necessity for the initiation of the natural wound healing process; however, excessive inflammation can have detrimental effects and might result in adverse ventricular remodelling which is associated with an increased risk of ...

ConclusionACP pneumatization can be recognized in all ages including pediatric age. CT scan is recommended before anterior clinoidectomy to assess the presence and extent of pneumatization to avoid CSF leak complications. When recognized, reconstruction must be attempted to obliterate the connection between the intracranial space and nasal sinuses. If CSF leak recognized post-operatively, repair is feasible through open or endoscopic transnasal approach.

We present a surgical technique that diminishes tension of the repair with MCPJ flexion. Twenty-two EDC tendon stabilization procedures were performed between 2006 and 2017 using a tendon flap method. The selection criteria for this group of patients included completely dislocating extensor tendons with persistent complaints of pain and decrease in finger extension despite at least a 6-week conservative treatment attempt. All subjects underwent surgical treatment for tendon centralization using a distally based tendinous flap from the EDC sutured to the adjacent finger volar plate. A mathematical model was developed to ana...

We report a novel technique of modified dorsal intercarpal ligament (DICL) capsulodesis for the treatment of SL dissociation. The surgical indication for this procedure is complete SL ligament tear with a reducible carpal malalignment and no secondary osteoarthritis. This procedure is indicated when the remnant of torn ligament in the dorsal SL interosseous space is available for repair. First, carpal malalignment is corrected and the scaphoid and the lunate are temporarily fixed with a transosseous screw or Kirschner wires. Using a dorsal approach, the DICL is then exposed, which originates from the triquetrum and attache...

CONCLUSION This simulation study provides important new insight into the concept of EGS regionalization, suggesting that 1 in 10 risk-adjusted deaths could be prevented by a structured system of EGS care. Future work should expand upon these findings using more complex discrete-event simulation models. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Therapeutic/Care Management, level IV.
