BACKGROUND: While bipolar disorder (BD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) frequently co-occur and individually have a higher risk of suicide compared to the general population, few studies have examined the impact of comorbid PTSD on suicidal ideati...

Do you struggle with anger? Did you know that some of our most hot-headed moments are actually rooted in anxiety? In today’s podcast, Jackie openly shares her own fuse-blowing moment when her husband’s keys were (gasp!) missing from the hook, and now she must face being late for therapy and perhaps even lie dying on the side of the road. How did she handle this catastrophic situation her mind so graciously forewarned her about? Does this sound familiar? Join us as we discuss anxiety-driven anger and explore ways to minimize and possibly even prevent it. (Transcript Available Below) SUBSCRIBE &REVIEW...

Authors: Kolomeets NS, Uranova NA Abstract There is increasing evidence to support the notion that oligodendrocyte and myelin abnormalities may contribute to the functional dysconnectivity found in the major psychiatric disorders. The putamen, which is an important hub in the cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical loop, has been implicated in a broad spectrum of psychiatric illnesses and is a central target of their treatments. Previously we reported a reduction in the numerical density of oligodendrocytes and oligodendrocyte clusters in the prefrontal and parietal cortex in schizophrenia. Oligodendrocyte clusters contai...

The objective of this study is to track and compare acute manic symptoms for sex differences during inpatient hospitalization.MethodsAll patients with bipolar mania admitted to a large university hospital between January and October 2017 were invited to participate in this longitudinal naturalistic follow ‐up study. Manic (YMRS), depressive (MADRS), and psychotic (PAS) symptoms were tracked daily from admission to discharge.ResultsThe total YMRS scores decreased significantly overtime (p

ConclusionsThe state of the pharmacoepigenetic literature on antipsychotic use is still in its early stages and uniform reporting of methylation site information is needed. Future work should concentrate on using prospective sampling with appropriate control groups and begin to replicate many of the novel associations that have been reported.

Publication date: April 2020Source: Materials Science and Engineering: R: Reports, Volume 140Author(s): Shumeng Wang, Hongyang Zhang, Baohua Zhang, Zhiyuan Xie, Wai-Yeung WongAbstractSolution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (s-OLEDs) have received a great deal of interest owing to the huge market application potentials as large-size, flexible, high-quality self-luminous display panels and lighting sources. It is anticipated that those electronic products can be easily manufactured by modern wet-processing techniques, e.g. ink-jet printing and ‘roll-to-roll’ coating methods. However, issues related to po...

Publication date: 25 June 2020Source: Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 827Author(s): Dai-Wen Tao, Zi-Jin Jiang, Jian-Biao Chen, Xiao-Gang Wang, Yan Li, Cheng-Wei WangAbstractHere, the Cu/Al/FTO layered nanostructure was designed and manufactured for investigating the roles of the interface transition layers in its resistive switching (RS) behaviors. The presence of the interface transition layers was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) depth profile scans, indeed there is a very thin Al2O3 interface transition layer (interface 1, denoted as I1) produced by the natural oxidation within the Cu/Al inter...

Authors: Steardo L, Manchia M, Carpiniello B, Pisanu C, Steardo L, Squassina A Abstract Introduction: Early detection and intervention in bipolar disorder (BD) might reduce illness severity, slow its progression, and, in specific cases, even ward off the full-blown disorder. Therefore, identifying at-risk individuals and targeting them promptly before the illness onset is of the utmost importance. In the last decades, there has been a significant effort aimed at identifying genetic and molecular factors able to modulate risk and pharmacological outcomes.Areas covered: We performed a narrative review of articles aim...
