Complete remission of disseminated Langerhans cell sarcoma after stem cell transplantation

SummaryWith fewer than 100  cases described in the English literature so far, Langerhans cell sarcoma represents an orphan malignant disease deriving from histiocytic cells. Clinical course is extremely aggressive and associated with poor survival rates, especially in disseminated condition. Herein, we describe the case of a  young patient with fulminant development of metastatic Langerhans cell sarcoma, who achieved persistent remission after polychemotherapy and subsequent high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplantation.

Conclusion: CD56–CAR-T cell therapy is a safe and effective approach and may be an option for children with solid tumors who are nonresponsive to conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy, or are unsuitable for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

ConclusionThe existing data on TMS is limited and most of the data is based on the experience involving the more common sites. Uncommon sites like testes have not been explored much due to rarity of disease and lack of any controlled trials.
