Authors: Theodosis-Nobelos P, Filotheidou A, Triantis C Abstract The clinical role of the placebo effect is a topic of increasing interest for the scientific community. Focus is shifting from the inert role of placebos in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to potential effects in clinical applications, since the phenomenon is thought to be inherent in routine clinical practice, affecting therapy success rates. Mediation of the mind-brain-body relationship involves both psychosocial and neurobiological factors, the interaction of which comprises the placebo mechanisms. Psychosocial factors include environmentally i...

Conclusions: The main effects of T. s. stejnegeri envenomation are tissue swelling, pain, and local ecchymosis. We do not recommend the use of cold packs during first aid to reduce wound pain, as this may be a risk factor for wound necrosis. In addition, patients with bulla or blister formation should be carefully examined for subsequent wound necrosis. Antiplatelet use may worsen systemic bleeding. No severe rhabdomyolysis or renal failure was observed in this large case series, we therefore considered that they were not prominent effects of T. s. stejnegeri bite.

Authors: Liao S, Zhang Z, Li G, Zhou L, Jiang J, Zhang N, Wang Y, Du Y, Wen Z Abstract Introduction. Stable angina (SA) in coronary heart disease is a common ischemic heart disease endangering the patient's quality of life and longevity. Clinical trials have demonstrated that the Chinese herbal formula Xuefu Zhuyu (XFZY) has benefits for SA patients. However, there remains a lack of high-quality evidence to support clinical decision-making. Therefore, we designed a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of XFZY for SA. Methods and Analysis. This multicenter, double-blinded RCT will be...

CONCLUSIONS If there is long-term complaint of undiagnosed limb pain, the physician should suspect osteoid osteoma. However, the selection of treatment modality should be considered according to the location of the lesion. Which management modality is superior may change depending on the location of the lesion between CT-guided radiofrequency ablation and surgical excision. Key words: osteoid osteoma, unusual locations, CT guided, radiofrequency ablation, benign bone tumor. PMID: 32940225 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS Results of this study revealed that the use of 20 mg/2 ml HA injection was effective in improving the WOMAC index score in patients of knee OA. Additionally, patients' quality of life as measured by SF-36 questionnaire was also significantly improved at the end of the study. None of the patient reported any of the adverse events during the study. Overall, the 20 mg/2 ml HA injection can be considered as a good treatment option for the knee OA in patients who do not respond to non-pharmacological therapy, NSAIDs or analgesics. Key words: osteoarthritis, hyaluronic acid, injection, non-operative. PMID: 32940...

CONCLUSIONS: Since anxiety and hyperactivity were predictors of nomophobia according to the study, adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or anxiety disorder should be examined for nomophobia as well. Key points Nomophobia levels of internalising and externalising disordered groups did not differ. Internalising group had higher scores in two sub-dimensions of nomophobia. All anxiety and depression symptoms correlated with nomophobia. Hyperactivity and oppositional symptoms correlated with nomophobia. Total anxiety and hyperactivity were predictors of nomophobia. Conclusions: There was wide variation in suggestions on to how to treat persistent symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, and oppositional behavior in a child whose mania and depression had been brought under good control. We surmise that this great diversity in recommendations among experts in child and adult bipolar disorder stems at least partially from inadequate literature on treatment and that a new emphasis on funding and conducting studies on efficacy and effectiveness is needed.
