A case of liver cancer identified by Leser-Tr élat’s sign

The patient was a 68-year-old male who had right facial skin nodules for 3 years and accompanied by systemic rashes for 2 months. The patient did not complain of any other physical discomfort. Upon physical examination, a 1.5  × 2 cm round, black nodule could be seen on the right face (Fig. 1A). Scattered black, oval macropapules were present on the left upper arm and waist (Fig. 1B). The right facial nodule was resected. Histopathology results were consistent with seborrheic keratosis. The results of hepatitis B panel were positive for HBsAg, anti-HBs and anti-HBc.

ConclusionA substantial further reduction in cases of HCC requires a wider application of universal HBV vaccination and effective treatment of HBV- and HCV-related chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis, more effective campaigns to favor correct dietary habits and reduce alcohol consumption and the intensification of studies on HCC pathogenesis for future optimized prevention strategies.

Liver cancer and cirrhosis may derive from any chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis B/C virus (HBV/HCV) infections, alcoholic liver disease, NAFLD, haemochromatosis, and autoimmune hepatitis [3].
