Editorial Comment: Surgical Management of Peyronie's Disease With Co-Existent Erectile Dysfunction

CASE STUDY 40-year-old male patient and 32-year-old female partner, with a history of primary infertility of two years duration. The workup revealed idiopathic mild oligoasthenotheratozoospermia, and no apparent female infertility factors. The couple has failed three intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles, planning more IUI cycles but also considering in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI).

Abstract The mosaic 45,X/46,XY karyotype is a common sex chromosomal abnormality in infertile men. Males with this mosaic karyotype can benefit from assisted reproductive therapies, but the transmitted abnormalities contain 45,X aneuploidy as well as Y chromosome microdeletions. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of infertile men diagnosed with 45,X/46,XY mosaicism in China. Of the 734 infertile men found to carry chromosomal abnormalities, 14 patients were carriers of 45,X/46,XY mosaicism or its variants, giving a prevalence of 0.27% (14/5269) and accounting for 1.91...

We report the first two patients, who underwent in vitro maturation protocol in order to avoid the exacerbation risk due to controlled ovarian stimulation at a large tertiary university hospital. Both patients were referred to our infertility clinic with the concern of multiple sclerosis exacerbation after or during controlled ovarian stimulation treatment. The patients underwent in vitro maturation protocol in order to avoid ovarian stimulating agents. Both patients gave birth to healthy babies at term. They did not suffer any multiple sclerosis relapses during their treatment and during pregnancy. Controlled ovarian stim...

This study aimed to generate PB dose constraints based on dose-volume histograms (DVHs) in patients treated with prostate radiotherapy, and to identify clinical and dosimetric parameters that predict the risk of ED post prostate radiotherapy. Materials and methods: Penile bulb DVHs were generated for 276 patients treated within the randomised IGRT substudy of the multicentre randomised trial, CHHiP. Incidence of ED in relation to dose and randomised IGRT groups were evaluated using Wilcoxon rank sum, Chi-squared test and atlases of complication incidence. Youden index was used to find dose-volume constraints that disc...

Conclusions: The number of initiated cycles slowly increases. Frozen embryo transfers, blastocyst transfers and SET are also increasing. Our data shows that especially in young women and oocyte recipients, when there is more than one blastocyst for transfer, elective SET should be the rule.

The objective of this study was to determine which LUTS among seven items on the International Prostate Symptom Scores (IPSS) were related to ED in the general population.MethodsThe Korean Internet Sexuality Survey was performed in 2006 and 2016. We sent emails and surveyed the panelists registered at an Internet survey agency. The inclusion criteria were sexually active men aged between 20 and 69. Data, including the International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5) and IPSS scores were extracted from the surveys. Logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the factors related to ‘any degree of ED’ (IIEF-5

The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) is an ATP-gated ion channel known for its proinflammatory activity. Despite its participation in host defense against pathogens, the role played in viral infections, notably those caused by herpes viruses, has been seldom studied. Here we investigated the effect of P2X7R expression on human herpes virus 6 A (HHV-6A) infection of P2X7R-expressing HEK293 cells. We show that functional P2X7R increases while its blockade decreases viral load. Interestingly, HHV-6A infection was enhanced in HEK293 cells transfected with P2X7R cDNA bearing the gain of function 489C>T SNP (rs208294, replacing a histid...
