205. Telling the Truth: Adolescent and Young Adults' Honesty During a Sexual History and Association with Receipt Of Services

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that providers elicit a patient ’s sexual history during clinic visits to ensure patients receive appropriate sexual and reproductive health services and risk reduction counseling. However, little is known about patient truthfulness during a sexual history, which may be particularly relevant for adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients with heightened confidentiality concerns. Our purpose is to : 1) describe whether AYA patients truthfully disclose sexual activity to providers during a sexual history; 2) explore patient-provider relationship and demographic associations with being truthful; and 3) investigate associations between truthfulness and receipt of recommended services.
