Abstract Currently, the most significant mediators of the systemic inflammatory response (SIR), specific to the development of critical states in sepsis, have the chaotic changes of concentrations in the blood. In conclusion, the application of VA-ECMO in this model of peritonitis-induced refractory vasodilatory septic shock aggravated hemodynamic deterioration. Our findings contribute to increasing equipoise with respect to the clinical utility of VA-ECMO in refractory vasodilatory shock.

ConclusionPreoperative, immediate postoperative and 24-h postoperative lactate value independently predict 28-day mortality in perforation peritonitis patients undergoing emergency laparotomy.
