Authors: Li R, Wang L, Wang X, Geng RX, Li N, Liu XH Abstract Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is one of the most common tumor types of the urinary system. Bioinformatics tools have been used to identify new biomarkers of ccRCC and to explore the mechanisms underlying development and progression of ccRCC. The present study analyzed the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with RCC using data obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus datasets and GEO2R software. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis of these DEGs was performed and analyzed us...

Conclusions: Cytoreductive nephrectomy should no longer be considered the standard of care in patients with T3b or T4, or node-positive, and metastatic rcc. Eligible patients should be treated with systemic therapy and have their primary tumour removed only after review at a multidisciplinary case conference (mcc). Adjuvant sunitinib after surgery is not recommended. Patients with venous tumour thrombus should be considered for surgical intervention. Patients with T3, T4, or node-positive utuc should have their tumour removed without delay. Decisions concerning lymph node dissection should be done at a mcc and be based on ...

Conclusions: The results of the present retrospective study demonstrate the suitability of the MSKCC model in mRCC patients treated with first-line sunitinib and suggest different outcomes between patients with one or two risk factors.

In this study, we use a computational framework to investigate the roles of certain genes, termed modulators, on changing RBPs’ effect on splicing regulation. A total of 1,040,254 modulator-mediated RBP-splicing interactions were identified, including 137 RBPs, 4,309 splicing events and 2,905 modulator candidates from TCGA-KIRC RNA sequencing data. Modulators function categories were defined according to the correlation changes between RBPs expression and their targets splicing outcomes. QKI, as one of the RBPs influencing the most splicing events, attracted our attention in this study: 2,014 changing triplets were i...

Abstract The immune system is important to control tumor development and progression. However, tumor cells and cells of the tumor microenvironment can induce immune escape mechanisms including activation of immune checkpoints such as PD-1/PD-L1. Based on this knowledge, new immune therapies including PD-1 and PD-L1 inhibition have been developed and are already recommended as standard treatment in metastatic bladder and kidney cancer patients. In addition to its role as a therapeutic target PD-L1 seems to be a prognostic parameter although data are controversial. Only little is known about signaling pathways induc...

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the expression and the prognostic role of main factors, involved in the hypoxia pathway, in patients with clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Immunohistochemical expression of Hypoxia inducible factors (HIF) HIF-1a, HIF-2a, prolyl hydroxylases PHD1, PHD2, PHD3, and factor inhibiting HIF (FIH) was assessed on a tissue microarray, containing tumour and corresponding normal kidney tissue from 66 patients underwent surgery for ccRCC. Expression levels were evaluated in relation to T stage, Fuhrman grade, cancer-specific, and overall survival (OS). Cytoplasmatic expression o...
