BackgroundThe risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes is increased by having a polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis. However, the confounders in previous studies preclude firm conclusions, and further studies are warranted.ObjectivesTo investigate whether PCOS affects pregnancy outcomes and complications in infertile women undergoing their first in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, taking into account important confounders.MethodsWe performed a retrospective cohort study of 7,678 infertile women, including 666 women with PCOS and 7,012 controls undergoing their first IVF treatment at a private fertility center from Jan...

CONCLUSIONS: It can be concluded that endometrial preparation using GnRH improves ongoing pregnancy and decreases miscarriage rate. It seems that reduction of androgen level in PCOS patients affects the endometrium and improves the re resulting in better pregnancy outcomes by reducing the miscarriage rate. AbstractBackgroundTraditional Chinese medicine (TCM) usually involves syndrome differentiation and treatment. Acupuncture, one form of TCM, requires the selection of appropriate acupoints and needling techniques, but many clinical trials on acupuncture have used fixed acupuncture protocols without accounting for individual patient differences. We have designed a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate whether personalized or fixed acupuncture increases the likelihood of live births in infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared with letrozole or placebo letrozole. We hypothesize that le...

Objective: To compare the effects of letrozole and human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) in the treatment of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) resistant to clomiphene citrate (CC). Methods: A total of 96 clomiphene resistance polycystic ovary syndrome patients infertility were randomly divided into an LE group, and HMG group (n = 48). LE group orally received letrozole at 5.0 mg/d−1 on the 3rd–5th days of menstrual cycle for 5 consecutive days, and 75 U/d−1 HMG was given through intramuscular injection for 5 days starting from the third day of menstrual cycle in HMG group. Number o...

Conclusions: These 6 cases demonstrated the positive effect of a combined approach, using acupuncture and herbs to reduce DOR and regulate hormonal disorders, creating sustainable environments for conceiving and maintaining pregnancy, thus, translating into clinical success. Clinical observation of these cases sheds new light on designing future clinical trials and practice of TCM for practitioners who provide infertility treatments. PMID: 31871529 [PubMed]

CONCLUSIONS: Based on very low-quality evidence, It is uncertain whether there is any difference in pregnancy rate, incidence of surgical complications, and miscarriage rate between UTND and LOD in women with clomiphene-resistant PCOS. UTND may lead to a slight decrease in ovulation rate when compared to LOD. No studies reported on the outcomes live birth rate, incidence of OHSS, and multiple pregnancy rate. No studies reported on the main outcomes live birth and surgical complications for the comparison UTND combined with gonadotrophins versus gonadotrophins alone. The evidence for the outcomes OHSS, pregnancy, ovulation,...

CONCLUSIONS: For true acupuncture versus sham acupuncture we cannot exclude clinically relevant differences in live birth rate, multiple pregnancy rate, ovulation rate, clinical pregnancy rate or miscarriage. Number of intermenstrual days may improve in participants receiving true acupuncture compared to sham acupuncture. True acupuncture probably worsens adverse events compared to sham acupuncture. No studies reported data on live birth rate and multiple pregnancy rate for the other comparisons: physical exercise or no intervention, relaxation and clomiphene. Studies including Diane-35 did not measure fertility outcomes as...
