This study evaluated the frequency in which a hip dislocation is first diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) scan. A retrospective review was conducted of orthopaedic trauma patients presenting with hip dislocation to a Level 1 trauma center over three years. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of internal symmetry (the number and morphology of root canals) in the mandibular incisors using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). A total of 302 CBCT scans involving 1,208 mandibular incisors were evaluated using the Vertucci's classification regarding the number and configuration of root canals. ConclusionsThe use of CBCT allowed investigation of the course of the CS as it progresses across the antero ‚Äźlateral wall of the maxillary sinus to be more accurately defined radiographically than has been previously described. There were some statistically significant differences between vertical measurements comparing left and right side, but none for age or gender. CONCLUSION: Excessive overscanning was due to inconsistent technique in capturing CT-KUB scans. Before this audit, the superior limit of CT-KUB scans had not been formally clarified at our trust. By successfully standardising the process with a reproducible method, the overscan target was comfortably met. Therefore, patient dose was minimised without compromising scan quality. CONCLUSION: The current literature suggests that CT has several advantages over radiographs for preoperative planning of THA including more accurate planning of implant size, component alignment, and postoperative leg length. It is also superior to x-ray in identifying extraarticular hip deformities using the minimum effective dose for CT and the minimum scan length required by templating software.
